FOR UGC CREATORS
Brand deliverables in every aspect ratio, from a phone.
Film the UGC spot, then hand the brand 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 versions of the same cut instead of re-editing it three times.
THE PAIN
- Brands ask for three ratios and pay for one edit
- Every brand wants a slightly different caption style
- Reshooting because the framing broke when you cropped
THE WORKFLOW
Film the spot on your phone
Caption, grade and cut it once
Multi-aspect queue renders every ratio the brief asks for
FROM YOUR PHONE
UGC is a phone format end to end. Film it, cut it and deliver it without ever opening a laptop.
Zella for iPhone & iPad →WHEN THIS OUTGROWS THE FREE TIER
The multi-aspect queue turns "three ratios" from three jobs into one, and saved templates let you keep a per-brand look ready to apply.
Everything else here is free forever: the complete editor, all the AI, unlimited recording, and watermark-free export up to 2 minutes at 1080p. Pro is $89 once and covers Mac, iPhone and iPad on a single purchase. See pricing →
UGC work has a specific shape that general editing tools handle badly: many short videos, several brands, each wanting a different aspect ratio and a different caption style, and revisions that arrive as 'can we get it without the text this time'.
Zella suits that rhythm. Everything is fast on the phone where you already film, captions restyle in a tap rather than a re-render, and background removal on-device means you can shoot in your actual room and still deliver something that looks staged.
The Pro multi-aspect queue matters more here than anywhere: 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 from one edit in a single action, which is exactly the deliverable most briefs ask for.
WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SHIP
A brand deliverable in three aspects
One edit, rendered 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 in one action, then the editor puts itself back exactly as it was.
A hook-first talking-head ad
Auto-Polish adds a hook title and an opening punch-in, then captions with the active word popping.
The same script on a different backdrop
Live background replacement while you film, or swapped later, so one shoot covers several looks.
A clean version with no burned-in text
Captions are a layer, not baked into the source, so the no-text variant is an export rather than a reshoot.
THE HONEST ANSWERS
Brands want raw files as well.
Export MOV for the highest quality master alongside the finished MP4. Both come from the same project, so the raw hand-off does not mean re-editing.
I need to work fast on my phone, not at a desk.
That is the iPhone and iPad version rather than a compromise version of it: recording, Auto-Polish, captions, background replacement, Make Vertical and export all run there. The .zella handoff is there if a job gets big enough to want a keyboard.
Does the free tier cover UGC work?
Often, yes - most UGC deliverables land under two minutes at 1080p, and there is no watermark on any tier. What Free does not give you is 4K, 60 fps, custom bitrate or the multi-aspect queue, and the queue is the one that saves real time on a multi-aspect brief.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Can I export one video in several aspect ratios at once?
Yes, with Pro. The multi-aspect queue renders 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 from one edit in a single action, as three separate files.
Can I change the background of a UGC video?
Yes. Blur, cut out or replace the background live while filming on iPhone, or change it later in the editor, all on-device with no green screen.
Do free exports have a watermark?
No. Free exports are clean on every tier and platform. The only free limits are 2 minutes and 1080p.
Can I deliver a version without captions?
Yes. Captions are a layer in the project rather than part of the source, so a no-text variant is another export.
