FOR E-COMMERCE SELLERS

Product video that does not need a studio.

Shoot the product on a phone, drop the background out, and put it on a clean backdrop or straight onto your page with a transparent background.

  • A cluttered room behind every product shot
  • Paying a studio for something you reshoot monthly
  • Every marketplace wants a different aspect ratio
01

Film the product on your phone

02

Remove the background, add a backdrop or keep it transparent

03

Queue 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9, export

The whole shoot and edit is a phone job. Background removal runs live while you film, so you see the final look in the viewfinder before you commit.

Zella for iPhone & iPad →

Transparent-background export is the one that changes what you can sell. A product video with a real alpha channel drops onto any page background, any ad template, any colour, without a rectangle around it.

Everything else here is free forever: the complete editor, all the AI, unlimited recording, and watermark-free export up to 2 minutes at 1080p. Pro is $89 once and covers Mac, iPhone and iPad on a single purchase. See pricing →

Product video is the highest-leverage asset most sellers never make, because the cost per video feels absurd: a shoot, an editor, a round of revisions, and then the platform wants it in a different shape.

Zella collapses that to a phone and a few taps. Shoot the product on your iPhone, remove the background on-device so it sits on a clean backdrop with no lightbox or green screen, add captions, and reframe to whichever aspect the platform wants. Forty built-in backdrops, twenty stills and twenty animated, mean the same product can look different across a catalogue without another shoot.

For anyone selling across several marketplaces, the Pro multi-aspect queue renders 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 from one edit in a single action rather than three exports.

A product video on a clean backdrop

On-device background removal with no green screen, dropped onto one of 40 built-in backdrops or a transparent plate.

The same listing video in three shapes

One edit, reframed for the marketplace, the feed and the Reel, with face-aware tracking when you are on camera.

An unboxing or how-to-use clip

Auto-Polish cuts the fumbling and captions the steps, so a two-minute clip does the job of a manual.

A cutout for your storefront

Transparent export with a real alpha channel, HEVC on iPhone and iPad or ProRes 4444 on Mac, so the product drops onto any layer.

I sell physical products. Is this not a screen recorder?

It records the camera too, and on iPhone that is the main path: front or back camera with the mic, with background blur, cutout or replacement applied live in the viewfinder while you film.

Will the cutout look cheap around the edges?

It is built for the hard case rather than a static object. Two models have to agree on every frame before a pixel survives, motion-blurred edges are trimmed rather than recoloured, and edge decontamination stops hair and fine detail carrying a rim of the old background.

Transparent export is Pro. Is that the only way to get a clean product shot?

No. Setting a clip background to Remove and choosing a backdrop is free, and that covers most listing video. Transparent export with a real alpha channel is the Pro feature, and it only matters when you need to composite the product in another tool.

Can I remove a video background without a green screen?

Yes. Background removal runs on-device using Apple person segmentation and an instance detector, with no green screen and nothing uploaded.

How many backdrops are included?

Forty on iPhone and iPad: 20 stills and 20 animated. You can also use a plain cutout, a transparent plate, or a blur of your own room.

Can I export the same video for Amazon, Instagram and TikTok?

Yes. Pick a platform preset at export, or use the Pro multi-aspect queue to render 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 from one edit in a single action.

Can I get a product video with a transparent background?

Yes, with Pro. Transparent export writes a .mov with a real alpha channel, HEVC on iPhone and iPad or ProRes 4444 on Mac.
