I am not a video person at all.
The honest starting point is one button. Record, tap Auto-Polish, look at what comes out. If it is fine, export it. The 45 documentation chapters are written for people who have never edited before, and the community group is there when a page does not answer it.
I do not have a Mac.
You do not need one. The iPhone and iPad version records, edits, captions, removes backgrounds and exports on its own. The Mac is an option, not a requirement, and one purchase covers both if you later want it.
Will it look like everyone else on my street?
Partly up to you. Auto-Polish gives a competent first pass, and the caption style, music, transitions and title cards are all yours to change. If you want a house look, save it as a template and it is one tap next time.
