FOR REMOTE TEAMS

Async updates that respect everyone's calendar.

Record the update instead of holding the meeting. Captions mean it can be read on a train, and nothing goes through a third-party recorder.

  • Meetings scheduled across too many time zones
  • Internal roadmap footage on a third-party server
  • Long updates nobody finishes watching

Captions, export, post it in the channel

Record a standup update from wherever you are, with your background blurred or replaced so a hotel room is not part of the update.

Zella for iPhone & iPad →

When the weekly update genuinely runs long. Most standups do not, and stay free.

Everything else here is free forever: the complete editor, all the AI, unlimited recording, and watermark-free export up to 2 minutes at 1080p. Pro is $89 once and covers Mac, iPhone and iPad on a single purchase. See pricing →

Async only works when recording an update is genuinely faster than scheduling a call. The moment it takes twenty minutes to make a five-minute video, people book the meeting instead, and the async culture quietly reverts.

Zella keeps the cost low. Record the screen and your face, tap once, and the rambling start and the pauses are gone, the captions are written for teammates watching on mute in a shared office, and the clicks are zoomed so the dashboard you are discussing is legible.

It also produces a file rather than a link. Updates outlive the tool that hosted them far more often than anyone plans for, and an MP4 in your own drive is still playable in five years.

A weekly update that replaces a status meeting

Screen and camera, cut down to what changed, captioned so it can be watched anywhere.

A decision record

A short recording of the reasoning, exported as a file that lives with the document rather than in a tool.

An onboarding walkthrough

Callouts pointing at the exact control, keystroke effects showing the shortcuts, captions for whoever joins next.

A design or code review

Region capture at exact pixel size, zoomed on the parts you are talking about.

We need instant sharing, not a file.

Then a hosting tool is doing something Zella deliberately does not. There is no upload, no share link and no viewer page. You get a file. That is worse for a two-second share and better for anything you want to keep, and it is the honest trade.

Different teammates use different devices.

Mac, iPhone and iPad are covered by one Universal Purchase per person, and a project moves between them as a .zella file in either direction. Windows and Android are not supported at all.

Two minutes is short for a real update.

It is, for this use case in particular. Free will cover a quick answer; a genuine weekly update usually needs Pro at $89 once. Pro Week gives seven full days to test that against how your team actually records.

Does Zella host videos or give me a share link?

No. Zella exports a file - MP4, MOV, GIF or M4A - and you share it however your team already shares files.

Does it work on Windows?

No. Zella is Mac, iPhone and iPad only, requiring macOS 14 or later and iOS 17 or later.

Can I move a project between my Mac and my iPad?

Yes, as a .zella file, in both directions, carrying the timeline, cuts, captions and effects.

Are team recordings uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs on the device, so internal dashboards and roadmaps never reach a third-party server.
