FOR RECRUITING & EMPLOYER BRAND

Show the team instead of describing the culture.

Role walkthroughs, team intros and day-in-the-life clips, made in-house without a production budget or an agency.

  • Job descriptions all read identically
  • Agency employer-brand video costs more than the hire
  • Candidate and staff footage is personal data

Candidates research employers on video now, and the gap between what a careers page claims and what a thirty-second clip of the actual team shows is the whole point. The problem is that employer-brand video usually means a production budget and a two-week turnaround, so most roles never get one.

Zella makes it small enough to do per role. Film a team member answering one question on a phone, tap once, and it is cut, captioned and ready. Captions matter more here than most places: a candidate scrolling at work is watching on mute, and a video they cannot follow silently is a video they scroll past.

Nothing uploads, which is worth knowing when the footage shows an office, a whiteboard or people who have not consented to being on a third-party service.

A day-in-the-life clip

Filmed on a phone, cut down, captioned, exported vertical for the feeds candidates actually use.

A hiring manager introduction

One take, filler words removed, clean background, an intro card with the role and the team.

A role explainer for a job post

Screen and camera showing the actual work, captioned so it reads on mute.

An onboarding welcome

A short, warm clip that gets reused for every new starter rather than rewritten as an email.

We have no video budget.

That is the case for a free tier that is genuinely the whole editor. Recording is unlimited, there is no watermark, and a 30 to 60 second employer-brand clip lands well inside the free 2-minute export. For a lot of recruiting teams there is no purchase here at all.

Our people are not comfortable on camera.

Neither is anyone, at first. What helps is that mistakes are cheap: filler-word removal takes out the ums, silence removal takes out the pauses where they lost their thread, and background removal means they do not have to tidy the room first.

Is footage of employees stored anywhere?

No. There is no account, no cloud and no upload. The footage exists on the device that recorded it and nowhere else until you choose to publish it.

Can we make employer brand videos without a budget?

Yes. Zella Free is the complete editor with unlimited recording and no watermark, and short clips fit inside the free 2-minute export limit at 1080p.

Can we film on a phone rather than a camera?

Yes. The iPhone and iPad app records with the front or back camera and mic, with background blur, cutout or replacement applied live while filming.

Do candidates need captions?

In practice yes, because most social video is watched on mute. Zella writes and styles them on-device, with nine presets on iPhone and ten on Mac.

Is employee footage uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs on the device, with no account and no upload path.
