Mac 1.0.2 2026-09-26

Auto-Polish on Mac runs the whole edit

Auto-Polish now cuts the silences and filler words, adds an opening title, blends the joins and lays in ducked music
It still writes the captions, cleans your voice and zooms on your clicks, and it still leaves your colour alone
One Command-Z undoes the whole pass, and running it a second time never stacks another set of cuts or music
Clicking a title on the timeline scrolls its panel to that title and rings it, instead of the grid for adding a new one
The first click on the timeline works when the window was in the background, and a title you just placed selects on click
Portrait phone clips no longer export upside down when a transition sits between them

See what Auto-Polish changes before you tap

Auto-Polish and Make it Viral now list every step under See what it changes, so you know the edit before you commit
The progress bar reaches the end: it used to promise one more step than the pass actually runs
Boxes, arrows, highlights and emoji get their own lane on the timeline, and tapping one opens its controls
Tapping any block on the timeline scrolls its panel to that object and rings it, instead of the grid for adding another
VoiceOver can now reach the title cards, captions, sounds, music and callouts on the timeline

Tighter silence cuts, and exports that finish

Cut Empty Space catches the short pauses it used to leave standing, including ones a stray click broke up
Exports: fixed a crash with ducked music, a render that could hang forever, and files that dropped their titles
Projects with more than a thousand cuts stay smooth to scrub and edit instead of freezing the timeline
Picture-in-picture panels get their own playback speed, and Command-B cuts the music block you click
Recovered takes keep their webcam bubble, and closing the editor after undoing everything no longer crashes
The 1:1 chip records a real square video, and a batch of inspector controls that did nothing now work

Pull in a clip from another project

Add → Clip from another project puts a take from any of your other projects on the timeline, with no export step
Cut silence catches the short pauses it used to leave behind, and the 1.0.1 voice fix now covers people who barely pause
Long videos: voice cleanup no longer holds the whole render in memory, and cancelling a trim keeps your titles
Title cards stay above the fold on the timeline, and a cutaway lands on the clip you picked, not the one before
Recovery no longer deletes footage it failed to save, and a Pro export that could hang now finishes

Zella for Mac is on the Mac App Store

Live on the Mac App Store. macOS 14 or later, native on Apple Silicon and Intel, and free is the whole editor with no watermark
Reordering a clip could delete the clips in front of it. That was the most serious bug in the build and it is gone
Exports containing a transition carried no voice at all, and Best Voice Quality quietly did nothing
Applied work survives quitting: voice renders, cleanup passes and Auto-Duck all persist now
Timeline handling: drag a multi-selection, auto-scroll at the edges, and rotate one clip without rotating the rest

Animated text highlights, and a voice fix you can hear

Animated Text Highlights: Marker Highlight, Underline Draw and Box Trace draw a decoration behind your words, line by line
Arrows and labels can draw themselves on over your footage, and resize freely from any of their eight handles
Remove Noise and Polish Voice stopped chewing the voice
Cut silence no longer leaves a long pause standing because a single click landed in the middle of it
Make it a reel places a handful of transitions across the video rather than one on every cut
Pro Week was refusing trial users their own exports, which is the one thing they would use it for

Make it Viral comes to iPhone

Make it Viral on the phone: the whole Auto-Polish pass plus the two layers it leaves out, a colour pop and matched sound effects
Auto-Polish really removes the noise now. The finished voice render was being thrown away on every single run
Silence removal removes the silences. A transcript safety check had been discarding whole pauses
Remove Noise and Polish Voice moved to Apple Voice Isolation, the engine Final Cut Pro uses
Waveforms draw the audio that is actually playing, so a cleaned clip stops showing its old noise
Three new title looks: Gold Title, Story Card and Beast Pop

iOS 1.0 2026-08-05

The submission build

Now an iPhone app on iOS 18 or later. It still runs on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode
Recordings are crash-safe as they happen, written in one-second checkpoints, so a crash costs at most the final second
Record without leaving the editor, and the Library is the front door to every recording and project
Luma Fade is a luma fade. It had shared a code path with Cross Dissolve and produced an identical result
Plain words everywhere: Titles is now Text, Callouts is now Arrows, and playhead is gone from every label
Two dozen smaller fixes: camera switching, VoiceOver names, import failures that happened in silence

Mac 1.0 2026-08-07

A way out of every long job, and two voice fixes that cancelled each other

Cancel on every long job, and Reset All Edits to clear a project back to its footage without touching your media
Remove Noise was turning the volume down rather than the noise, and Polish Voice then spent the denoise it had just been handed
Object effects and tracked overlays: outline, glow or blur an object in the frame and it follows, tracked on the device
Thirteen new sound effects for 43 in all, and seven new colour looks
8K export really encodes 8K on every route, and Auto B-Roll works with no API key
Around forty further fixes across recording, the timeline, export and the assistant

Every control in plain English

The buttons say what they do: Callouts is Arrows & Labels, Overlays is Picture-in-Picture
Captions has its own footer button instead of hiding behind the word Studio
Effects stopped darkening you. Eleven looks carried a built-in vignette
Seven new colour looks, the 2026 creator pack, and the Lyric title look
A font showcase of 51 faces, each card drawing its own name in its own typeface
Every delete names the way back: "Deleted - tap Undo to bring it back"

A teleprompter, and a timeline you edit with your fingers

Teleprompter while you record: your script scrolls over the camera preview, paced to your own words
Record a voiceover while the video plays, with any of the 16 voice changers on the take
Record straight into the timeline you are already editing, without starting a second project
Drag either end of anything on the timeline: stickers, titles, music beds and picture-in-picture
Sixteen music beds, up from ten, in the genres short-form actually runs on, and you can audition any of them first

iOS 0.5 2026-08-02

Colour rebuilt from scratch, and captions that admit what they cannot do

Colour looks rebuilt rather than tweaked. Every preset had been crushing the midtones
35 looks on iPhone, up from 25, with a test suite that guards the catalogue on every build
English captions from any supported language, transcribed and translated entirely on-device
18 of the 27 spoken languages are verified end to end, each measured on native-voice audio
Bengali and Telugu are no longer claimed, because we measured them and they were not good enough
Background removal stopped tearing moving limbs

Mac 0.6 2026-07-27

Intro and outro cards, and a timeline that does what you tell it

Intro and outro cards: a full-screen coloured card with your text, before or after your video
Timeline rebuilt around what you see, so a clip join is a real boundary and drag-to-reorder always works
You can delete every clip and clear a timeline you built, and undo it
Text Card backgrounds and stroke colours are the colours you actually picked
Library, Settings and the full Zella menu moved into the recording panel itself

Mac 0.5 & iOS 0.4 2026-07-26

Cleaner voice, and text that reads

The anti-hiss stages were retuned, so a cleaned voice keeps its top end instead of sounding muffled
Every Mac now uses the same studio voice tuning, with gentler de-essing and compression
Background colours and four-way alignment on any title style
Multi-clip selection on the timeline: Cmd+A, Shift-click, or drag a marquee
Edits made while the preview is paused show up straight away

iOS 0.3 & Mac 0.4 2026-07-25

Pro Week, a real audio mixer, and a matte that holds when you move

Pro Week: every new install runs the full Pro feature set for seven days, with no card and nothing to cancel
Background removal rebuilt for movement. The matte is now the agreement of two on-device models, with an edge that tightens where the frame moves
A dedicated Audio tool in the timeline toolbar: clip volume, every overlay level, and mute
Exports sound right. Audio is sliced as uncompressed PCM, so cuts land clean
Auto-Polish stopped forcing a colour preset on your footage
