FOR FITNESS COACHES & TRAINERS
Show the form, not a wall of text about the form.
Movement demos, programme previews and client check-ins, captioned so they work in a gym where nobody has sound on.
THE PAIN
- Nobody in a gym is watching with the sound on
- Form cues need slow motion and an arrow, not a paragraph
- Client check-in videos take longer to edit than to film
THE WORKFLOW
Film the movement on a phone
Slow the key moment and add a callout arrow
Caption the cue and export vertical
FROM YOUR PHONE
Film in the gym, slow the rep, add the cue and send it to the client before they leave the floor.
Zella for iPhone →WHEN THIS OUTGROWS THE FREE TIER
A full programme walkthrough or a class recording runs well past 2 minutes, which is where Pro pays for itself once.
Everything else here is free forever: the complete editor, all the AI, unlimited recording, and watermark-free export up to 2 minutes at 1080p. Pro is $89 once and covers Mac and iPhone on a single purchase. See pricing →
Fitness content has one requirement most editing tools treat as an afterthought: it has to be understood with the sound off, in a loud room, by someone holding a weight. That means captions are not decoration, and a cue needs an arrow pointing at a knee rather than a paragraph.
Zella covers both directly. Captions are written and styled on-device with the active word popping as it is spoken. Callouts, 20 types on the Mac and 19 on iPhone including arrows, boxes and spotlights, point at the joint or the bar path you are talking about, with the timing you set.
Slow motion handles the rest: drop the key rep below 1x so the position you are describing is actually visible at the moment you describe it.
WHAT YOU ACTUALLY SHIP
A form demo with the cue on screen
Slow the rep, add an arrow callout at the moment of the fault, caption the cue.
A programme or class preview
Several movements cut together with titles, exported vertical for the feed.
A client check-in reply
Film their rep back with a callout and a caption, sent as a file rather than a login.
A gym-floor short
Camera with background removal so a busy gym behind you is blurred or replaced.
THE HONEST ANSWERS
My clips are filmed one-handed in a busy gym.
Which is why background blur and removal run live in the viewfinder on iPhone, and why filler-word and silence removal exist. It is built for takes that are not clean rather than takes that are.
I send client videos daily. Will the free tier hold?
For a single movement cue, usually yes: under two minutes, 1080p, no watermark. A full session review or a class recording will not fit, and that is where Pro at $89 once is the honest answer rather than a workaround.
Can I slow down just one rep?
Yes. Speed changes apply to a selected part of the clip, with speed ramps for a gradual change, and the audio stays in sync either way.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Can I add arrows to point at form cues?
Yes. There are 20 callout types on the Mac (19 on iPhone) including arrows, boxes, ellipses and spotlights, each with a time and duration you set.
Can I slow down part of a video?
Yes. Constant speed changes and speed ramps both work below 1x for slow motion, keeping the audio in sync.
Do fitness videos need captions?
In practice yes, because gym feeds are watched on mute. Captions are generated on-device with active-word highlighting.
Can I blur a busy gym behind me?
Yes. Background blur, cutout and replacement run on-device with no green screen, live in the viewfinder on iPhone.
